Frequently asked questions

What is Pagewood?

Pagewood is a calm focus timer for Android. Pick how long you want to focus and a tree grows on your journal page while you do. In Strict mode, distracting apps show a resting page until your session ends.

How does the app blocker work?

During a Strict session, Pagewood uses Usage access to see which app is in front and Display over other apps to cover any app that isn't on your allowed list. Read the full explanation.

Will I miss calls or messages?

No. Calls, texts and your home screen always work, and you choose which other apps stay open.

Can I open a blocked app in an emergency?

Yes. Hold for 3 seconds to open it. That session's tree becomes a stump; your focused minutes still count.

What is the difference between Strict and Gentle?

Strict (the default) blocks apps once you allow it. Gentle never blocks; leaving the app just pauses your tree. Compare the modes.

Is Pagewood free?

Yes, during early access, with no ads and no in-app purchases. See pricing for what's planned.

Does it work offline?

Yes, fully. No account is needed.

Do I need an account?

No. An account is optional and only used to sync your journal between devices.

Does Pagewood track me?

No. There are no ads, no analytics SDKs and no tracking. The blocker never stores or sends which apps you use. See the privacy policy.

Is Pagewood on iPhone, Windows or Mac?

Not yet; it's Android-only. The free web study timer works in any browser.

Can I export my data?

Yes. Back up your journal or export sessions as CSV from Settings.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Settings → Account & sync → Delete account. Or follow the steps on the delete account page.

What are seeds?

You earn 1 seed per focused minute and spend them in the Nursery on new tree species and lands. Seeds can't be bought.

What happens if I stop a session early?

The tree becomes a stump. It stays in your woodland and the minutes you focused still count. In the first 10 seconds you can undo a start and nothing is recorded.

Who makes Pagewood?
